photoart by VIVA Anderson.. "I love all things, not because they are passionate or sweet-smelling but because, I don't know, because this ocean is yours, and mine: these buttons and wheels and little forgotten treasures, fans upon whose feathers love has scattered its blossoms, glasses, knives and scissors -- all bear the trace of someone's fingers on their handle or surface, the trace of a distant hand lost in the depths of forgetfulness." ~ Pablo Neruda..........
Whilst ironing/not 'that' unironed blue shirt (see photo),I gave thought to
the buttons themselves. How we take them for granted. How we rely on
them. How they are referenced historically, humourously, politically,
and so, here is my Buttons ~ A Tribute... I did two pix,one white-black,the
other, black-white, for those with such preferences.
The quotes are surprisingly diverse, yet, en pointe............Enjoy.
quotes......Courtesy AZ Quotes, found in Google. A great read. Pages and
pages of buttons quotes. Who'd have thought!
"All photography is Pop, and all photographers are crazy... they feel guilty since they don't have to do very much - just push a button." ~ Andy Warhol....
"The Internet, I'm trying to point out, is a kooks' paradise. Anybody with a keyboard and a modem can spread fear, loathing, and just plain asinine ideas among hundreds of thousands of people with the click of a button. Discouraging, but true." ~ David F. Emery....
Buttons are the fossils of the sartorial world, enduring long past the garments they were designed to hold together. ..Martha Stewart,,,,
If it keeps up, man will atrophy all his limbs but the push-button finger.

"What is the life of man! Is it not to shift from side to side? From sorrow to sorrow? To button up one cause of vexation! And unbutton another!" ~ Laurence Sterne....
"Television is like the American toaster, you push the button and the same thing pops up everytime." ~ Alfred Hitchcock....
"We made the buttons on the screen look so good you'll want to lick them." ~ Steve Jobs.....
"A man should have two wives: one to love and one to sew on his buttons." ~ Gabriel Garcia Marquez.....

"I don’t think television will ever be perfected until the viewer can press a button and cause whoever is on the screen’s head to explode." ~ Michael O'Donoghue....

"I like to work with people who have a sense of putting a song over, and can sing in tune, and with passion. With technology you can polish a turd, but there's still no button you can press for passion." ~ Tony Visconti....
"What is technology?" Cian pulled his brother inside, pushed the button for the next floor. "It's another god." ~ Nora Roberts

Robert Hilger::"Very unique and yet simplified to emphasis feelings of oneself separated, apart, yet connected very delicately to the string of our emotional self. Deep in the recesses of our psyche, our feelings become separate yet a thin string of human conscience draws them together, and such, upon of who we are emerges. Ah, break that thin string, and our feelings tumble about, upon which, our view of ourselves becomes a struggle. I see all of this in this piece wonderful piece!!"

Thank you,Robert, yet again...I am so honoured my work, though simple, sparks you to see the hidden complexity that supports our raison d'être as artists, our need to unravel life's simplest complexities, to reveal our souls. To reveal, trust, our unique truth, to clarify our direction,as we tumble through life. ....VIVA

You do minimalism JUST RIGHT Dear VIVA~ This evokes all kinds of awesome memories.. like the hand clap game with another little girl on the playground while singing 'Miss Mary Mack'.. or a beloved grandmother's closet.. or the 'button tin' so many grandmothers and mothers used to collect their treasures in.. (and just maybe, let the children play with!). Thank You for warming my heart with 3 buttons. :-)
