Excellent texture and color to portray the dry desert. Wonderful abstract.
Lexa Harpell
It was heartbreaking driving from Outback QLD to Broken Hill during the drought period. The number of dead kangaroos on the side of the road was astounding. It was the only area where they could get a few short blades of green grass. The overnight moisture on the bitumen rolled off to the side to give that little bit of moisture. Gut wrenching looking across the dry plains.
Lexa Harpell
Expresses the essence of our savage droughts in such a beautiful way. :))

Uther, thank you for your interesting response to this...I quote you Uther Pendraggin 13 Hours Ago ''There are many I don't understand. But I really don't understand how a realistic depiction is abstract expressionism. The depiction of the dried up oasis and the dead stream bed that fed it (or drained it) (them) is dynamite. I remember this drought. Your representation of its devastating effects on life, as charactered by the lifelessness is not an abstraction albeit an expression or your awareness. I am drawn to that TINY bit of hope that is left in there, Pandora. That one bit of blue. Your use of the properties of the medium are brilliant. To take the negative of cracking and use it as part of the message! Brava! A true tour d' force majeure. PLAU, UPD " ........And in response, with my apologies for this late reply (I only just found your post), Thank you, Uther. To address abstract expressionism in reply, I understand what you don't understand, lol, and sometimes I will use that nomenclature when I don't know what the artwork is classified, so I lean back on my tendency towards the abstract, and add in a dose of 'expressionism' with poetic license b/c I am not just depicting the scene, I am, as you know, and say, expressing......in my way, what is the reality thru my abstract vision. Glad you feel good from my ray of hope, in blue.....! Water: the elixir of life, of survival !..an oasis: another gift so important in this context of drought. The cracking of the paint, with thanks to the elements in my workroom:the sun,heat...was again an extraordinary occurrence, that has happened maybe twice other wise, and I feel so blessed by these moments of life outside of my own powers that come along to my work to change it, deepen my meaning, to know my intent ! Awesome!! Thank you, Uther, for the 'brava'.. taken much to my heart, because, I know and respect the source::you!................VIVA
