Description
Austrian Alps Imagined.
Precipice 1, by VIVA Anderson,is my imaginative abstract impressionism response to alpine mountains,in winter,at sundown, with a few liberties taken with color,design,and my own painterly expression in the abstract.
Thank you,from my archives....Comments - Gary Kendall, a revered fellow artist,friend, re::::Precipice/ o/c............."I am an old man, long captive to flesh, and I cannot look at this without feeling humbled, for it is as though this canvas sees and hears and touches and smells and tastes . . . " .
'Greeting the purple Carpathians. ' a Celebration.

'O THE GLORIOUS purple line
Of the mountains lifted along the west!
Bright, in the sun, their summits shine;
Dark, in the shade, their valleys rest.
Cossack and Tartar may hold the plains,
And the rivers that creep to a tideless sea;
Mine be the heights where the eagle reigns,
And cataracts thunder, and winds blow free!
Not for the steepe, with its desert sheen,
From AUSTRIA's border to China's wall,
Would I give the upland pasture's green,
The beech-tree's shadow, the brooklet's fall.
Vanish, O weary, mournful level!
Welcome, O wind my brow that fans!
In the splendor of earth again I revel,
Greeting the purple Carpathians!'

With thanks to O.H.,2015 whose comment I saved when I first shared this previously,
'Each day I step forward,persuing my bliss,my passion for color ,shape and form, I am walking the precipice. I stand on the adge of a great beginning with the hope of reaching the tip of my guiding light, a destination somewhere....with each step I take I am exposing myself to either side of the precipice.On the deep side there is a chasm of my fears and my failures ,myself. On the steep side there are the others, the world,the mundane. I keep walking, keep stepping forward, an inch at a time, it is even worth it taking in the view,as srary as it may seem for a moment, I feel the pulse ,pounding in my throat, I dont have a rope and ii's halfway forward and halfway back....I go forward,,,,might as well... it is the same dangerous distance in either direction. In the mountains they wear ropes when venturing up in these hights or crossing these kind of sections of a route. In life there is often no such a thing as a safety net,I will feel the impact, there will be pain.....I stand tall ,i don't listen to the swirling echo of the wind coming up either side of the precipice.......I am almost there......because only at the edge of the ravine that you find the most beautiful flowers........ this painting is an inspiration.........'

So lovely :) Your abstract captures the feel of rock mountains & perhaps their reflection in an alpine lake. Lovely colors, composition & feel. I enjoy traveling around in this piece.
VIVA Anderson replied:
Carlin, thank you so much....I love that you see the light,the reflections,and are happy within / on this rugged alpine scene........VIVA
